Organization's Committment to Advancing Diversity & Inclusion
- Bozzuto's formal D&I work started in 2015 with the inception of our community forum program, a facilitated dialogue program that brings together a diverse cross-section of employees to discuss external and internal issues that impact inclusion at Bozzuto. Five years later, this monthly program is still at the heart and the core of our work. In 2017, Bozzuto created a cost center specifically for D&I showing our commitment to funding and sustaining progress in the D&I space. Over the past 3 years we have formed 5 employee resource groups with a 6th launching in the spring of 2020. Our ERG's host learning and leadership experiences, cultural events, community service and volunteer activities in addition to providing valuable input in the areas of innovation, marketing and policy and benefits design. In 2018, CEO Toby Bozzuto became a signatory of CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion as well as a Catalyst CEO - signing a pledge indicating executive commitment to furthering progress around diversity and inclusion in the organization. As part of this commitment we share our diversity data with these organizations.
In 2019 Bozzuto earned a seat on the Working Mother's Diversity Best Practices Index, once again showing our commitment to building and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workplace. We have a robust program for identifying and recruiting diverse talent and semi-annually report out to senior leadership on diversity hiring, retention and promotion data. We have recently implemented a diverse selection committee process for hiring and/or promoting employees to director/regional level roles and above.
Plan for Sustaining Diversity & Inclusion Efforts
- We will sustain our D&I efforts by building upon the commitments and programs listed above. In addition, we will continue to fund and add human and systems resources to scale our D&I efforts and deliver meaningful content, education, events, opportunities and policy to the field. As our world changes we will continue to evaluate the relevance, legality and impact of our programs, policies and benefits offerings to ensure they meet the needs of our employees and our customers. This is an ongoing effort driven from the top, supported by HR and led by our employees and leadership. As an example, we are currently in the process of revising our style guides to consider non-binary/gender neutral styles in addition to masculine and feminine considerations for attire.
