1. Provide a brief background on the individual being nominated.
Pamela Lovell currently serves as President for Apartment Management Professionals, LLC (AMP Residential). Pamela received her Bachelor’s Degree in Management from Oakland City University and has achieved the designation of Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS) through the National Apartment Association. Pamela worked for 10 years in hotel management before joining the multifamily industry in 2007. Pamela has previously managed a portfolio of properties in Evansville, Indiana, as well as the 1638-unit southern region for AMP Residential. Pamela has experience in successfully overseeing multi-million dollar renovation operations and repositioning projects, both in the hotel industry and in the multifamily industry.
Additionally, Pamela is a leader in the industry in the markets she represents. She has previously served as President of the Apartment Association of Southern Indiana, President of the Hotel Association of Greater Evansville; Member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Birmingham Apartment Association and on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Apartment Association.
2. Describe what makes this person an outstanding candidate and deserving of the ACE award.
It would be very difficult to find a candidate with more passion and/or commitment to our industry! Pam Lovell has built her career as a multi-family leader with a passion and commitment that is rare and commendable! Pam is one of those people that constantly has you asking “how does she do it.” She always makes sure her extremely busy schedule allows for time to volunteer and actively participate in her local associations. Pam is a servant leader that is a shining example of professionalism and poise for her co-workers and those that know her within the industry.
3. Describe specifically their contributions, expertise, activities and any other achievements that pertain to this award.
Pam has guided Amp Residential through an impressive first five years of growth while being an industry leader in local markets. Pam has served as the Property Management Association of Michigan Board President for the last two years. She now sits on the PMAM Board as Past President for 2021 and 2022. Pam has also been a PMAM board member and legislative committee member since 2017. Her passion and dedication for service to industry associations does not stop with her. Pam encourages all her employees to serve at the local level and ensures owners support events and sponsorships for all the associations Amp Communities are a part of.
4. Cite examples of how this candidate has demonstrated their commitment to apartment industry education and the promotion of apartment careers.
Internally, Pam has set the expectation and provided the support for team members to further their educations and careers by attending certification courses, events and conferences provided by our local Apartment Associations. Under Pam’s guidance, both the Training and Marketing Directors for Amp Residential have taught NALP certification courses in Michigan and Indiana.
5. Describe the candidate’s unique approach to career development and apartment industry education.
Pam is one of the most amazing, dedicated, inspiring, selfless leaders that you will ever find. Her work ethic and dedication she provides her employees is unsurpassed by anyone else. Her leadership is instrumental in AMP’s growth and accomplishments that have happened in just a few short years. The integrity that Pam displays inspires her entire team to reach the next level of success on a continual basis. She takes the time to personally acknowledge every employee and recognize their accomplishments, making every individual realize their importance as a member of this team and inspiring them to achieve more. She puts everyone ahead of herself. The respect she shows to those around her is one of her best leadership qualities. Pam would never ask anyone to do something she is not willing to do herself. Her leadership has created the most successful team environment I have ever been a part of. Her team is willing to go above and beyond and help anyone as they follow her lead. She encourages team members to be part of local Property Management chapters, serve on boards, committees, and participate in monthly membership events. She served as President of the State Board for MI. Every year, several Property Managers and Regional Managers obtain their CAM and CAPS certifications. She has obtained a CAPS certification from the NAA and Lyceum from PMAM. She continually finds ways to further educate herself and advance in the industry and encourages her team to do the same. Over the past 5 years at AMP there has been over 50 promotions. Her overall philosophy is to never stop learning and growing.
